NZ Apprentices to triumph with new deal

I-CAR New Zealand and the NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation – MITO – have finalised a sub-license arrangement with I-CAR USA.
This exclusive arrangement will enable MITO apprentices in the collision repair industry access to the most advanced training packages available internationally.
It is understood that this is a precedent for an industry training organisation in New Zealand and a coup for the industry.
MITO Chief Executive Janet Lane confirms that “this initiative demonstrates our commitment to train to international standards and will give us the ability to benchmark our graduates on a global scale. It is a compelling example of MITO working with industry in a strategic and enterprising way”.
I-CAR USA is renowned internationally for their commitment to the research and development of leading edge technical training programmes. They work in close association with vehicle manufacturers globally. Their partnership with I-CAR New Zealand was formed in 1987.
CRA General Manager Neil Pritchard said “I-CAR training has demonstrably shifted safety and repair practices in New Zealand. We are very excited about this new initiative. Essentially this future proofs the quality of training for our industry”.
This new initiative will be launched in January 2008.
